8 Weeks and 1 Day, the Difference Between Brothers

Today I am eight weeks and one day pregnant with my rainbow baby, Ellis.  I’m sitting here, slightly queasy, eating strawberries and sipping cold ginger tea as I type.  This is the second time I’ve been eight weeks and one day pregnant, but today with Ellis is so much different than than today with JB. Surprise!!!

When you go through fertility treatments, you lose the element of surprise because you and your partner are both very aware of what’s going on and the two-week wait.  “Well did it work this time?” No, it did not.  None of our fertility treatments to date resulted in a pregnancy. No need to squint, two pink lines!

One year ago, just like today, I had a morning acupuncture appointment. For as long as I’d been going to acupuncture, I’d take a precautionary pregnancy test if I was near the end of my cycle. I still don’t know how much I believe in acupuncture, but just the month before my acupuncturist literally started my period.
